Contemporary Chinese art has become hot in the global art market. However, most Chinese artists are men with teams of assistants working for them. While technology plays an important part in the trendy art scene, there is a small but strong group of Chinese women artists in New York who create their art differently ?with their own hands. They use age-old methods, traditional materials and objects found in nature to give substance to their dreams and imaginings, making a connection with the natural world. The rules they find embedded in nature reappear in their artwork in a multitude of ways, speaking passionately with visual impact but with a contemporary touch that is both subtle and natural.Artists Hilda Shen, Cui Fei, Emily Cheng, Liang Hao and Xin Song.
